I think everyone started noticing highlights when we started using PowerPoint presentations sometime in the 1990s.

When it is necessary to divide marketing text into clear key points, we use highlights and marketing text...

They help us convey messages, benefits or important points in the product or service we advertise.

I like to read them Within the structure of a marketing text containing a title, an opening text, I combine highlights and, of course, a motivation for action.

Very useful standouts on landing pages! And in many cases where they are good and sharp there is no need for a busy text.

If we think of ourselves as readers, we often skip straight to the points arranged as a list and therefore their importance!
